Celebrating a Wonderful eTwinning Journey

Today, the students from Spain, Italy and Bulgaria met online for the final video call of our ThreeTwinning Friends project. It was a very special moment, full of smiles, excitement and emotions as we looked back on all the activities, challenges and experiences we have shared throughout the school year. The children enjoyed seeing their international friends again and celebrating everything they have achieved together.

During the meeting, students exchanged greetings, shared their favourite memories and reflected on what they had learned from the project. Through collaboration, creativity and communication, they have improved their language skills, discovered new cultures and built meaningful friendships that go beyond the classroom.

As our project comes to an end, we would like to thank all the students, teachers and families who made this journey possible. ThreeTwinning Friends has shown us that distance is no barrier to friendship and learning. We are proud of everything we have accomplished together and we will always remember the wonderful moments we shared with our friends from Spain, Italy and Bulgaria. 

OUR FINAL VIDEO CALL AND END OF THE ETWINNING PROJECT "A YEAR OF TALES"

On 5th June, we held the final video call of our eTwinning project "A Year of Tales". It was a wonderful opportunity for students from all partner schools to meet one last time and celebrate the amazing journey we have shared throughout the school year.

During the session, pupils took part in speaking games, interactive challenges and fun activities that allowed them to practise their English skills while enjoying time with their European friends. The atmosphere was full of excitement, smiles and positive energy.

Throughout the project, students have explored traditional tales, discovered different cultures, improved their communication skills and developed new friendships across Europe. They have also strengthened their digital, linguistic and intercultural competences through meaningful collaboration.

We would like to thank all partner schools, teachers and families for their commitment, enthusiasm and cooperation. This project has been an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. Although "A Year of Tales" is coming to an end, the memories, friendships and learning experiences will stay with us for a long time. Thank you all for being part of this wonderful adventure!

21ST MAY - LAST VIDEO CALL AMONG SCHOOLS - A WONDERFUL FAREWELL!

On Thursday, May 21st, we held the third and final online meeting of our eTwinning project "Let's Have Fun in English Together!" It was a very special event where students and teachers from Spain, France, Germany, Italy and Slovenia came together to enjoy a morning full of fun, learning and friendship while communicating in English. We started with an exciting Mime Challenge, where students picked cards representing different jobs and acted them out. Their friends from the partner schools had to guess the correct profession before taking their turn. It was a fantastic activity that encouraged participation and communication.

Next, we played the collaborative "Who Has?" Game. Students introduced themselves, showed their cards to the camera and followed the sequence of questions and answers. This activity helped improve speaking skills and strengthened the connections between our schools. Some students also shared creative job riddles, challenging their European friends to solve them and making the meeting even more interactive.

To finish, we enjoyed the "Bucket List" activity, where students talked about their plans for the next weekend, their wishes for the summer holidays and their dreams for the future. It was a meaningful way to say goodbye and reflect on everything we have experienced together throughout the project.

The meeting ended with warm farewell messages and expressions of gratitude from all participating schools. Together, we celebrated the success of a project that has helped us improve our English, discover new cultures and build friendships across Europe.

FINAL EVALUATION - ETWINNING PROJECT "LET'S HAVE FUN IN ENGLISH TOGETHER"

As our eTwinning project "Let's Have Fun in English Together" reaches its final stage, our pupils have taken part in one of the most important activities of the project: the final evaluation. Using their laptops and accessing the TwinSpace, they completed an online survey designed to gather their views on the different activities, collaborative tasks and learning experiences developed throughout the school year. This evaluation process has given our students the opportunity to reflect on their learning journey, assess their progress in English, and share their opinions about the digital tools, international cooperation activities and creative challenges they have enjoyed with their European partners. Their feedback is essential, as it allows us to understand the project's impact from the learners' perspective and helps us identify strengths and areas for future improvement. 

One of the key principles of eTwinning is ensuring that students play an active role in every stage of the project, including its evaluation. By encouraging them to express their thoughts and experiences, we promote learner autonomy, critical thinking and responsible participation. The enthusiasm and maturity shown by the pupils while completing the survey clearly demonstrate their commitment to the project and the meaningful learning experiences it has provided. The results of this evaluation will be shared and analysed by all partner schools, contributing to a common reflection on the achievements of the project. Looking back, we are proud of everything our students have accomplished together: improving their communication skills in English, developing their digital competence, collaborating with peers from other European countries and discovering new cultures through authentic and motivating activities. A big thank you to all our pupils, teachers and partners for making this European adventure such a rewarding experience. Every opinion counts, and every contribution helps us continue building high-quality collaborative projects in the future. 

Celebrating Europe Day and eTwinning Day at CEIP Las Lomas (Águilas)

On the occasion of Europe Day and eTwinning Day, our school has created a very special video in which our students are the true protagonists. The video reflects the enthusiasm, creativity, and commitment of the students who are actively participating in the eTwinning projects we are developing during the 2025–2026 school year. These projects are:

Through these initiatives, our students collaborate with partner schools from Spain, Poland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Slovenia, and Bulgaria. This international experience helps them improve their English language skills, discover new cultures, and develop key values such as respect, cooperation, and European citizenship. The eTwinning program plays a key role in promoting collaboration between schools across Europe, encouraging innovative and active teaching methodologies in the classroom.

This video is a clear example of the great work carried out by both students and teachers, as well as the positive impact these projects have on their academic and personal development. We continue learning together, connecting cultures, and building Europe from our school.

Con motivo del Día de Europa y el Día de eTwinning, nuestro centro ha querido compartir un vídeo muy especial en el que nuestro alumnado es el verdadero protagonista. En él se refleja el entusiasmo, la creatividad y el compromiso de los estudiantes que participan activamente en los proyectos eTwinning que estamos desarrollando durante el curso 2025-2026. Esta experiencia les permite mejorar su competencia lingüística en inglés, conocer otras culturas y desarrollar valores como el respeto, la cooperación y la ciudadanía europea. El programa eTwinning es una herramienta clave para fomentar el trabajo conjunto entre centros educativos de toda Europa, promoviendo el uso de metodologías activas e innovadoras en el aula.

🍀 This is how we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day at our school 🍀

On March 17th, our school turned green and was filled with joy and excitement to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. From our youngest pupils in Preschool (2 years old) to 6th grade students, everyone took part in this special day as part of our Linguistic Plan and the promotion of English-speaking cultures. There were costumes, shamrocks, hats… and even a few leprechauns walking around the school! 

Throughout the day, we combined fun and learning with activities adapted to each level: we enjoyed a lively photo call, worked on listening and reading tasks, watched the story behind this tradition, and played games in English while learning more about Ireland and its customs. A very motivating way to bring language learning to life through culture and experience. It was definitely a special day where learning English went hand in hand with excitement, participation, and lots of fun. 💚🍀

Aprendemos y nos divertimos en inglés con “Let’s Have Fun in English Together”

En el Colegio Público Las Lomas de Águilas seguimos ampliando nuestras experiencias internacionales a través del proyecto eTwinning “Let’s Have Fun in English Together”. Este proyecto conecta a nuestro alumnado con estudiantes de otros países europeos para aprender inglés de una forma divertida, dinámica y colaborativa. A través de juegos, actividades creativas y retos en línea, los niños y niñas practican el idioma mientras conocen nuevas culturas y formas de aprender. Durante las primeras actividades del proyecto, el alumnado ha podido presentarse a sus compañeros europeos, compartir información sobre su escuela y participar en pequeñas actividades interactivas en inglés.

Gracias a esta experiencia, los estudiantes desarrollan sus habilidades comunicativas, su creatividad y su competencia digital, al mismo tiempo que descubren que el inglés es una herramienta real para comunicarse con niños y niñas de otros países. El proyecto continuará a lo largo del curso con nuevas actividades y colaboraciones, por lo que seguiremos disfrutando y aprendiendo inglés juntos.

Un viaje por Europa a través de los cuentos: nuestro proyecto eTwinning “A Year of Tales”

En el Colegio Público Las Lomas de Águilas seguimos abriendo nuestras aulas a Europa gracias al proyecto eTwinning “A Year of Tales”. A través de este proyecto, nuestro alumnado colabora con estudiantes de otros países europeos para descubrir, compartir y crear cuentos a lo largo de todo el curso. De esta forma, la lectura y la creatividad se convierten en una puerta para aprender inglés, conocer otras culturas y trabajar juntos más allá de nuestras fronteras. Durante las primeras semanas hemos realizado actividades para presentarnos a nuestros compañeros europeos, mostrar cómo es nuestro colegio y empezar a explorar diferentes cuentos tradicionales. Durante el primer trimestre hemos trabajado los cuentos "The very hungry caterpillar" y "The Gruffalo", combinando actividades en lengua extranjera, inglés, y vocabulario del cuerpo humano, contenido del área de Science. 

Este proyecto permite al alumnado practicar inglés de forma real y motivadora, desarrollar su creatividad y aprender a trabajar en equipo con estudiantes de otros países. “A Year of Tales” continúa durante todo el curso, así que todavía nos esperan muchas historias por descubrir y crear juntos. Compartimos con vosotros/as el vídeo realizado de la primera videoconferencia que tuvo lugar en diciembre con alumnado de España, Grecia, Irlanda y Polonía. ¡Seguiremos compartiendo nuestras aventuras!

ANTIBULLYING WEEK 2024

Anti-Bullying Week 2024 will take place from Monday 11th - Friday 15th November in our school, with the theme: Choose Respect. Odd Socks Day is taking place on Tuesday 12th November, with adults and children being encouraged to wear odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique. The theme of Choose Respect has come about following consultation with teachers and pupils by the Anti-Bullying Alliance which coordinates Anti-Bullying Week every year i Teachers and children wanted a theme that empowered them to do something positive to counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes.

CULTURAL WEEK 2018 - PLAYS

Hello again dear friends!

Here we are again. As you well know, each year we celebrate our "Cultural Week" at school. This year, we are remembering the 80s, a decade in which the life style was so different from now: make up, hair styles, clothes, music, etc. In addition, we have played the reading books we have read in the classroom: "Rapunzel", "Goldilocks and the three bears", "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Aladdin". DRAMA - AT THE HOSPITAL

In this post, I want to show you the drama the students in our school have developed. They were patients, nurses and doctors for a day. Through this video we can learn some healthy habits we should have, some healthy food we should eat and some recommendations for a better life. It deals with the contents we have been working in Applied Knowledge, Natural Science and English. I hope you like it because they did it as professional actors and actresses and they enjoyed a lot that moment.

SCHOOL TRIP TO MOJÁCAR (ALMERÍA)

Hello again dear friends!

This post is about the school trip to Mojácar we (4^th, 5^th and 6^th levels) did the last Thursday, the 23^rd November. We left school at 9:20. It was really sunny, as usual. We went to Mojácar by bus and near the seaside, so we enjoyed the beautiful coastal landscape through the windows. We arrived at the shopping centre at 10:00 and we went upstairs to Kiss FM (it is in the second floor), the radio station (106.8 FM). There, Richard was a good host and he was outside waiting for us. We sang the “Happy Birthday” song because it was his. Then, we went inside the radio station and we can appreciate how the radio works (the music, the interviews, the reception, the phone calls…). Some of the students take part in the live programme and Richard and the students interviewed each other. It was a good experience for both. We are really thankful for the time we stayed there and all the members who work in Spectrum FM. Later, we had breakfast in a near park.

The second place we visited was an art gallery. There, an English couple was waiting for us to show how they feel and transmit their feelings through the art. The paintings were colourful and quite good. After the introduction, the students interviewed them for about 20 minutes.

The last place we went was the city centre and there we can enjoy the viewpoint. Then, we went to the tourist office and one group heard some explanations about the history of the city, the festivals, the traditions, and we watched a video.  Meanwhile, the other two groups were buying some souvenirs (presents) for their families and they can practice their English (and French).

It was 13:30 pm and we had to come back to school. Anyway, we reached the main aim of the school trip: the use and practice of the English language. The students enjoyed a lot the experience and we are sure we will repeat this school trip next year. We are really thankful to Spectrum FM, the art gallery “Fuente de Mojácar” and the tourist office whose members were always in contact with the school and planning the activities. STORYTELLING BY ALAN KENNEDY - THE POOR SISTER

Hello again dear readers!

Although it is too late, I have to tell you the fact that our students of 4^th level A and B enjoyed the storytelling titled “The Poor Sister” and played by the well-known storyteller Alan Kennedy last Wednesday, the 4th October. First of all, the students arrived to the assembly hall while listening to the amazing sound made by the Scottish pipe played by Alan (he is a good musician, too). When they sat, the story started.

Some days before, we were reading the plot of the story in the class and talking about different fairy tales the students knew, such us “The little red riding hood”, “The princess and the pea”, “Rapunzel”, etc. We talked about the story, the plot, the characters, the sceneries… and this idea prompted the students to take part in Alan’s story.

In “The poor sister”, a couple had two children, a horrible, spoiled little boy and a kind daughter. They preferred the boy and gave the younger girl lots of hard work. They wanted her to suffer. The girl’s pet was special and saved her from a hard life. They wore wigs and hats, they talked to each other in English and, the most important aim, they enjoyed their time a lot. When we went back to the classroom, we talked about the experience and all the students voted they want to repeat it next year. I am really proud of my students and the interest they show in the English lessons. Thanks Alan for your help and we hope you can came back next year. THANKSGIVING DAY - HISTORY AND VIDEOS

Hello again dear friends!

This post is about “Thanksgiving day”. Apart from Christmas, Thanksgiving is the most important festivity in the USA. It became a feast in the early days of the American colonies almost four hundred years ago.

In 1620 a boat filled with more than one hundred people sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to settle in the New World. This religious group, called Pilgrim Fathers, had begun to question the beliefs of the Church of England and they wanted to separate from it. Their first winter in the New World was difficult. They had arrived too late to grow many crops, and without fresh food, half the colony died from disease.

The following spring the Iroquois Indians taught them how to grow corn. They also showed how to hunt and fish. In the autumn of 1621, The Pilgrim Father to thank God and the Local Indians had a feast. After the USA became an independent country, Congress declared the fourth Thursday in November” Thanksgiving Day” a national holiday.

APPLIED KNOWLEDGE - COLLECTING DATA

This post is about the amazing subject of "Applied Knowledge". As you well know, our students are studying and working the unit about healthy habits through songs, speeches, tv programmes... and they are collecting data in the classroom!!!
